been crowned

crowned by the very beautiful and lovely shosho, its been more than 2 years since my last tag! so this is cute :p

Question 1: Six secrets no one would come to know about me on our first meeting.

1- i say (aaawwwwwwwww) when im happy about something and say (yoo yoo yoo yooooo) in a very fast tone when im shocked or upset!!

2- im very social, love meeting new people but like to keep my close circle of friends limited.

3- it bothers me when people look at anything other than my eyes/face when talking to me.

4- i can never gain weight .. which brings me to how much i hate it when people keep asking me "omg did u lose some weight?!!"

5- i have a very bad ..(repeat) BAD memory .. always tend to forget names, appointments, events, and some very precious memories :( the only good thing about this is, it makes it easier for me to forgive and forget.

6- one of my best qualities (or at least thats what i believe) is my "calmness" blkwaity "barda".. i have full control of my temper, feelings, what i say and reactions. never lose my cool no matter what the situation is (except for the time my mom passed away) but other than that im very collected and calm. it annoys some people .. but i know it always works out for every ones best.

i pass the crown to our brand new and very interesting blogger a la Mocha :)

have a nice weekend all :*

Flossing

do you floss?

today was Abdullahs second check up at the dentist .. so in each checkup his doctor checks his teeth, gums, his skills in brushing teeth, if hes ready for tooth paste yet or not (because some kids swallow it) and thats dangerous. Al7imdellah Abdullah been doing fine in all of that until his doctor asked me today : "does he floss?" !!
at first i thought he was kidding .. but his face didnt give me any "joke" vibe .. so i answered with a stunned face "floss!? hes not even two yet..? can he floss??"
he replied "as long as his teeth are all out his teeth should be flossed.. and its better to get him develop flossing habit from an early age, if he cant floss for now you have to floss for him"

i wanted to be honest and just say honestly that neither i or his father floss.. we brush and use mouth wash but thats it.. i couldnt.. part of me was afraid of being judged :/ lol sort of the case specially when the doctor is kind of hot ! :p

so anyways .. he insisted i start teaching him to floss .. he said people who do not floss.. are just like people who do not brush their teeth because all the food remains there to rot for days!!! its the cause of teeth decay, roots infections, bad breath! some gum infections and sensitivity! :/ i was grossed out of the thought .. but remembered that i was never advised by any of my dentists in kuwait to floss?! inshallah teaching him wont be difficult i was happy to find special flossing kit for toddlers in his goody bag! so now im actually excited to see how it will work out.

thanks to Abdullah now were all going to start flossing :D
back to my question.. do you guys floss?? lol

l e t t e r s

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take."-- Cardinal Mermillod

some quotes smolder you with truth and sense.. some very simple quotes
make you choack on your own tears.. the power of words.. each letter that forms them, that creates a thought in your head, a thought
has the power to skim through your memories, grasping a few in particular. leaving you with emotions you sometimes think are gone. tangles you with your own soul, where you either end up struggling wanting to leave, or the opposite, wanting to live in that thought for as long as possible.

i find it fascinating.. the power of it all, how it somehow controls us, then again it makes perfect sense. when something with that much power exists.. its only normal that it is the first thing Allah asked us to do in his book.. "read" the power of those words .. the power of a human being thinking of something and being committed. it brings us to passion, it leads us to having a goal in life, it is where everything starts and it is simply what drives us. "sub7an Allah"

i just wanted to share this thought..
hoping everyone is well today :)

Insane Day!

i wake up @ 7 am, for abdullah to eat his raisins oatmeal while he watch his daily Sesame Street as i prepare his lunch box for daycare. around 8 everything is ready, out fit for daycare another out fit for his photoshoot we had scheduled @ 3:15 thats the latest appointment we could get .. we only had 15 minutes to be there because we pick him up from daycare @ 3 !! so talk about "7adda 7adda"

*Note: driving in LA is scary!! i did it 3 times and then swore not to try again :/

we drop off the little one, hub drops me back home, before he goes to college i remind him "please be back by 2:30 we need to pickup abdullah earlier today so we can make it on time for the photoshoot."

2:30 i txt him "babes please try to leave now" .. with no reply .. i call .. no reply :/ i start to immediately worry like i always do. 2:45 he calls "im still in college will be leaving now" !!!
me "no comment" !

3:00 he calls "im stuck on the high way traffic is insane and my car is almost out of Gas i need to make a quick stop @ the Gas station.. call daycare tell them were gonna be bit late" !!!
me "no comment!!"

i call GAP coz thats where were having the photo shoot.. "please is there any chance we can reschedule? maybe 3:50" they agreed they could squeeze me in as long as i come before 4pm :D yay for us!

3:10 i call day care .. they have a pickup policy we can only be 10 minutes late.. any minute after that they charge 10$ per minute and if that happens three times, they notify social services! so not soo good!!! good thing i called .. they said theyll give us another 10 minutes with no extra charge! because its our first time to be late .. again .. yay for us!

3:20 Hub calls "go to my office check if the car insurance is in the black file?!!
im like why?!!!
" im with a police officer they stopped me for speeding" !!!! OMG!!!!! i cant believe this :s
police officer: "where is your Cali drivers license??"
Hub "only got international one"
"Where is your countries drivers license"
"Back home!!!"
ok so this means towing the car away!! plus giving u a something million dollar ticket!!!!

they stopped him a block away from daycare .. hub got soooo frustrated he asked
"ok tow the car .. i just want to walk and get my son from daycare plzzzz!!! i dont want him there all alone" the cop obviously was a father or this would have never worked, specially in the US! theyre very very strict when it comes to traffic laws..
"im only going to give you a ticket and will not tow your car so you can pick up your son"
YAAAY for us again!!!

3:45 Abdullah is successfully and finally picked up!!
hub calls "walk to IHOP and wait there ill pick u up, closer to the Grove .. (where GAP is)
i wait there for 10 more minutes and it was 3:55 by then!!!! i get in to the car and i dont say a word.. im sooooo stressed, upset and simply tired, i can only imagine how stressed poor hub is !! drops me off and goes to find a parking space while i literally carried Abdullah like he was a purse and ran up to the second floor. it was 4:10 !! @@
the photographer was still there shooting her last appointment, the cutest Japanese baby!!! i speak with her assistant she looks at me and smiles .. "dont worry we can still fit you in, 15 mins should be fine"

SUPER YAY!!!!! we did it !!!! XD

had the best time .. the shoot was super successful most adorable all black and white classic cute head shots!
i had a final request .. i was in desperate need of Pink berry .. man! i never enjoyed it like i did that day.. it cooled off all the stress .. managed to put a huge smile on my face .. was a great way to end it all :)

now i just have to wait for 2 weeks! when inshallah pictures will be out :D

Update - Cincscape Replied!!

"Dear Cinescape-ER,

We thank you for your email.

We have recently applied the Bachelor nights which has been a great success in allowing the Bachelors to sit in any seat in the theatre instead of having the bottom half of the screen as it use to be.

Moms Day will need to be studied and analyzed and we promise we will do our best to implement it in Kuwait Theatres.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have any further suggestions or comments.

Cinescape Team"

Worth a try.. Dear Cinescape..

Dear Cinescape,
Alsalam,

Hope your all well, i'm sending you this email as a young mother that enjoys going to the movies. ever since i had my child, i no longer have the time to see movies anymore, because it is difficult for me, and many other moms i know, to leave their kids just to go see a movie. it requires lots of energy and time.

i moved to the United States 2 years ago, and i have discovered many great things about this country concerning facilities. one of them is how much they appreciate and respect mothers (parents). they always give them privileges and means to show their appreciation. one of the things.. which is VERY simple .. is having a special "MOMMY MORNING DAY" @ the theater. the theater i go to have Mommy days on every Monday at 11 am. i go there with my son and enjoy a movie with out worrying about people; whether they get upset or not, because of his crying or because of his running around .. everyone enjoys the movie just like they are at home with their kids. all the families feel happy with their kids instead of anxious or worried over disturbing other viewers. or feeling guilty for leaving them behind.

because of "Mommy Day" I made sure I go once a week to see a movie with my son, i get to meet soo many other mothers there and my son got to meet other kids as well .. some parents sitting on blankets with their kids crawling around, my son would stand on his chair to jump and dance when ever there was a song! they also provide a changing table inside the theater for a quick convenient diaper change. its a great experience for everyone!

i kept thinking how much I will miss this once I move back to Kuwait because there isn't such a thing. I then realized how simple and great the idea is .. anyone can apply it. all you need is one day! At a certain time to dedicate for mothers and their children .. don't they deserve the care and attention? don't they deserve 2 hours in a day or week? and it will also be great for the company's image .. it will show how you appreciate mothers, parenting and kids.

one thing i may add if you ever consider doing this .. to make only one condition.. that only family's are allowed in, no nannies or maids .. because that will ruin the concept and ppl will not want to go anymore. if it was just families who can bring kids .. it will be amazing fun for all (bonding) should be the goal of this day.

I'm very sorry for my long email but I really wish you get the idea that I am trying to convey.. I will be leaving you with a few links to show you how it works here .. a great role model a kuwaiti mother named Jumana Alawadi just published something about this on her blog .. i'm sure this will be a great hit in Kuwait if its ever applied in the right way!

thank you for your time.

this is Jumanas post: http://organickuwait.blogspot.com/2010/05/movies-for-moms-and-dads-too.html
this is the theater i go to: http://www.pacifictheatres.com/MMMM.htm

thanks again
will be looking forward to your reply

Finales Crazy Week!

-safe to read, no spoilers-

why all in one week!!
this is too much .. not just finales .. two of the shows i watch got canceled!! i think finales week is simply depressing .. they always try to depress/shock us with cliffhangers, its just too stressful!

Gossip Girls finale.. i have to admit that the show got really bad, sometimes i feel guilty for still watching it! the only reason for that is i think most ppl would agree on this is the chuck/blair story .. and blairs wardrobe!! ;p the finale was heart breaking :( but Serena is getting on my nerves with her skanky too tight outfits! and wish she could wear a bra for a change lol! and jenny always always irritated the hell out of me! everything about her is simply revolting!! her skinny legs! the way she walks and talks ... and whats with her hair and makeup!!! :/ "etsaba7aaaay!!!"

Greys anatomys finale.... i still get jitters by just remembering it .. was one of the most intense finales i have ever watched .. i literally wasnt able to move, or breathe!! they killed me.. i couldnt even cry i just wanted it over. it was waaay OVER the top! but hands down the acting was sublime! they all did an amazing job! i see Emmys!! ;)
and like the writer said after what happened to them next season is going to be a blank slate to all of them! so we can expect anything now!

LOST! the master of all tv shows .. the show ive been watching since 2004! is coming to a real end, many complained that this season wasnt as strong and dramatic as the rest, what they seem to forget is this is a wrap up season where questions get answered, and where plots come to an end.. thats why it seems more calm and less insane! i love how all the seasons are connecting in this one, theyre answering to things, small things, that happened in season one! and making sense out of it in this one, which only proves the genius of the writers!!! out standing imagination
i have noticed that the actors in general seemed worn off , they look older and simply tired in this season and i dont blame them its really difficult keeping up with everything theyve been doing. they all stated theyre soo happy its coming to and end and they can move on now. i just cant imagine no more jack on tv lol ill sure miss this show. cant wait for the finale but at the same time i dont it to end :(

the show tha got canceled "Mercy" its about nurses and their lives in hospital. a nurse once said "doctors diagnose patients and we treat them" which is true .. and they dont get enough credit for it. the show was really really good .. but didnt get enough ratings, the killed it from season one! they didnt even bother air the finale! how rude is that. im still upset :/ they really didnt give the show a chance to create a base of fans .. atleast two seasons wouldve been fair. anyways id still recommend watching it, it was a really good show!

let me end with the most adorable video ever! where u combine total hotness/hunkness with cuteness!! ;)

enough tv .. just felt like venting and sharing my opinions :p
so what are u watching?

ps. i finally got rid off the GREEN! template it took me 4 years but i did it ;)

things they leave behind

i still remember her phone number by heart,
its not one of those easey numbers to remember! i once asked her:
"esh, hal raqam! makintoosh!!? :p " and she said .. "who cares ppl save ur nomber no one will know it by heart"
little did she know that 6 years later i still remember it.. digit by digit ..
i have dialed the numbers a few times.. to have some stranger pick up.. everytime i feel like crying over the phone, but i simply apologize and hangup.

when will any of this get easier on my heart and memory. her face and voice arent as vivid as they used to be .. but theyre still there. sub7an allah the thing that i remember the strongest is the way she smelled. which ill never find anywhere else.. i got her perfumes and body lotions but its not that, its her warmth.

why writing about her alone makes me smile and happy :)
maybe because i feel like were connecting .. 7abeebty..
again "yumma" i miss you o i need u right now more than ever .. so please ..
be kind enough o give me a visit.. i really really need to see you its been very long since u last did.

love u :*

Worht Posting For

just wanted to talk about JAMIE OLIVER .. hes not just a great chef ..
sorry, let me rephrase .. hes not just a great "hot" chef but an amazing parent! who wants things to change for the better .. he started change in his country UK and now hes taking it to the States because hes hoping from there the rest of the world will try and follow!

we really should try and follow when its in good things!
his TV show is being aired every Friday night @ ABC you can watch full episodes on youtube or download them. its called "Jamie Olivers Food Revolution"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-mYAoWu-O8
this is a clip for u! im sure youll find it pretty interesting...

i dont want you watching this and thinking "wow its pretty bad in the states" because in kuwait its actually worst. according to American Public Health Association "Kuwait has the Highest Obesity level in the World"!! now that is scary! and the numbers are screaming for some action! sadly no one is doing anything about it. something needs to be done, people need to be aware of how bad things are in kuwait. inshallah change will come to each and every house, and people will start looking after what they and their children are eating :) you are what you eat, so eat good and healthy :) for more information on obesity in kuwait read this article from Alwatan news. im very proud that we have KOA (kuwait obesity Association) great job!

of course we cannot post about health and healthy foods with out linking you to my beautiful friends, Jumana :) dear congrats on your new website look! http://www.welovekuwait.com/
for healthy food recipes specially for kids and much more go to the lovely Noura

ps. make the time to sign jamies petition to support his food revolution.
